Identification

Confidence: high

Both juveniles and adults can be recognized by the prominent white bar at mid-body. The only damselfish with a similar white bar is adult Chrysiptera biocellata which can be found in the same region and same habitat. However, that species is typically lighter in color, especially anteriorly and dorsally, and it has a prominent dark spot at the base of the dorsal fin where the spinous portion ends. There is also a smaller dark spot where the soft dorsal connects to the peduncle. P. leucozonusdoes not have such spots.
